Manhunt for Craig Berry Following Domestic Incident

Hours after Craig Berry allegedly shot and killed his wife, law enforcement began a focused search, even releasing video of a bloodhound leading officers through a remote wooded area. This manhunt intensified as the fugitive escaped into rugged terrain.

Footage acquired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol shows Stewart County Sheriff’s deputies and a K9 unit searching through the dense woods shortly after the May 1 incident. Berry, who has special forces training, is considered armed and dangerous after the reported domestic violence incident. Officials stated that the victim was hospitalized but survived the shooting.

By May 4, investigators had secured a warrant for Berry’s arrest on charges of attempted second-degree murder.

Four days post-incident, the search for Berry continues, with local, state, and federal authorities converging on the rural Tennessee area in hopes of locating him. Law enforcement believes he is armed with at least one handgun, potentially loaded with more ammunition, making him exceptionally dangerous.

“He knows the area well,” remarked Sheriff Frankie Gray, emphasizing the challenges in apprehending Berry.

Berry’s Disappearance and Ongoing Search

The sheriff’s office has released a photo, captured on a trail camera, showing a man believed to be Berry in camouflage attire. The authorities are advising the public to check their trail cameras and report any sightings. “We’re actively searching and can’t confirm if he’s still nearby,” they stated, urging residents to remain vigilant and secure their homes.

Berry, who is described as a retired Special Forces veteran, is noted for his proficiency in survival tactics, being in strong physical shape, and rumored to be a capable swimmer. He lacks means of communication following his escape, which could complicate the search.

The area of focus has widened since the initial search began. It now includes multiple points of interest around Old Paris Highway, Gray’s Landing, and the highways nearby. Dover, where the search is centered, is roughly two hours away from Nashville and is home to about 2,000 residents.

Stewart County Schools released a statement acknowledging the troubling incident involving one of their teachers, Berry’s wife, and noted that there was no ongoing threat to the school. The district expressed concern for her well-being and asked for privacy during this difficult time.

As the search continues, authorities are relying on the community’s assistance. If you have any information or sightings of Craig Berry, contact the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office at 931-232-6863.
