Katie Porter Unintentionally Reveals the True Motivation Behind Democrats' Support for Sanctuary Cities

California Gubernatorial Candidate Katie Porter Discusses Immigration

Katie Porter, who is running for governor of California as a Democrat, has unintentionally revealed some insights into the motivations behind the push for sanctuary cities among left-wing politicians.

During a debate on Tuesday night, Porter took off her mask and noted that illegal immigration has been one of the “only ways” California has experienced growth recently. This comment implies a certain acceptance of the idea that foreign residents are replacing U.S. residents. It’s estimated that around 10 million people in California are involved in illegal activities, reflecting a significant shift in population dynamics over the past decade.

“The governor’s responsibility is to protect every Californian,” Porter stated. “The sanctuary state policy is meant to ensure that taxpayer money and resources are focused on their intended purposes, though it doesn’t quite align with federal immigration enforcement.”

Porter described illegal immigrants as “Californians,” adding that they contribute to the state’s economy and pay taxes, asserting they are a crucial factor in California’s recent growth.

Furthermore, Porter is one of several candidates looking to take over from current Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. With eight Democrats in the race, her previous experience in the House of Representatives seems to be falling short of bolstering her prospects. Currently, her polling stands at about 9%, placing her fifth among her Democratic peers and Republican opponents.

This comes in the wake of former Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell dropping out of the race due to a scandal, which has shifted attention back to other candidates such as Porter, whose polling numbers have barely fluctuated amid the ongoing competition.
