Robbery Suspect Captured After Police Chase in Oregon

A robbery suspect in Oregon is now in custody after crashing his SUV during a police pursuit, according to officials.

Deputies from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery report around 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 17000 block of Southeast River Road. The situation became clearer when a 911 caller, having reviewed security footage, reported seeing a man enter a garage and take several items.

Upon arrival, officers were provided with a photo of the suspect and learned he was driving a white Ford Explorer.

The suspect was later identified as Scottie Nicholas Oldfield. A deputy spotted his vehicle on Rote Southeast Road, where Oldfield then sped past him, prompting a chase.

During the pursuit, Oldfield collided with another occupied vehicle near Southeast Oatfield Road and Southeast Park Avenue, resulting in his SUV rolling over and crashing into an unoccupied parked car.

The driver of the other vehicle declined medical assistance. Oldfield, however, was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital due to serious injuries.

Upon searching Oldfield’s vehicle, officers discovered suspected stolen items, leading to a string of charges against him. These include second-degree robbery, first-degree theft, attempting to elude police, reckless driving, DUII, identity theft, and more.

Authorities later found that Oldfield had several outstanding warrants from both Oregon and Washington for various offenses, including DUI, robbery, and theft. There are concerns that he may have targeted additional victims. Anyone with information about his activities is encouraged to reach out to the Sheriff’s Office.
