Spencer Pratt receives positive feedback following his performance in the LA mayoral debate

Former Resident Believes Spencer Pratt Could Be Next Los Angeles Mayor

Jennifer Guaraldi, a former resident of Los Angeles County and senior policy analyst at the Heritage Foundation, has weighed in on the recent mayoral debate in Los Angeles. She posits that Spencer Pratt stands a genuine chance of winning, pointing out a strong demand among residents for meaningful change—particularly concerning the escalating homelessness crisis and the management of wildfires. According to Guaraldi, the current liberal policies aren’t helping the residents, which opens the door for someone sensible to take the lead.

Spencer Pratt, known as a former reality TV star, participated in a debate for the three-way Los Angeles mayoral race and earned positive feedback for his performance during Wednesday night’s NBC broadcast.

In this officially nonpartisan race, Pratt is up against incumbent Democratic congresswoman Karen Bass and Socialist City Councilwoman Nitya Raman. Key concerns for residents include crime, immigration issues, and the ongoing struggle with devastating wildfires.

Meghan McCain, conservative commentator and daughter of the late Senator John McCain, expressed her admiration for Pratt, stating that he serves as a prototype for how older millennials can effectively communicate and convey their ideas while campaigning.

Her comments suggested that Pratt hit all the right notes during the debate. She described him as “a 10/10 no-note” and called him “an absolute talent,” indicating that his contributions overshadowed some of the discussions.

Some observers noted that Pratt’s straightforward one-word responses to yes-or-no questions stood out against his opponents, who, at times, were criticized for their more convoluted answers. For example, Pratt simply stated “No” when asked about support for a proposal allowing non-citizens to vote in city elections. This stark contrast led to commentary on social media, with users sharing memes in support of Pratt’s clarity.

Columnist Gustavo Arellano acknowledged that while Pratt performed well, he appeared at times like a charismatic brother who could be charmingly “humble.” However, Arellano pointed out that Pratt lacked depth in specifics, mostly assuring voters he would do better than his opponents, while also sharing personal anecdotes to illustrate his points on issues like public safety and various community challenges.

In a more favorable light, California Post reporter Joel Pollack noted the surprising strength of Pratt’s presence, especially considering how the hosts treated him. Pollack remarked that despite his political inexperience, Pratt managed to project the image of a competent mayoral candidate, demonstrating fluency in multiple issues that resonated with voters.

Political commentator Steve Guest labeled Pratt’s critique of the fire response a significant moment. Echoing the sentiment, Florida Political Editor Eric L. Daugherty described a fire-related comment as a metaphorical “dropped microphone.”
