Jauan Jennings agrees to a one-year deal with the Vikings

Jauan Jennings Joins the Vikings

Jauan Jennings is making a move north, having signed a one-year contract worth $13 million with the Vikings. This update was shared by ESPN on Thursday.

Jennings’ addition helps address a gap for the Vikings. Earlier, Jalen Naylor secured a three-year deal valued at $35 million with the Raiders, and Adam Thielen has now retired following last season.

This signing positions Jennings as the team’s No. 3 receiver, just after Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison.

At 28 years old, Jennings was picked by the 49ers in the seventh round of the 2020 draft and is currently wrapping up his fifth season in the NFL. Last year, he played in 15 games for San Francisco, managing to rack up 643 receiving yards along with nine touchdowns, though he dealt with rib, shoulder, and ankle injuries.

Reflecting on last season, the Vikings had a disappointing record of 9 wins and 8 losses, in stark contrast to their impressive 14 wins and 3 losses in 2024.

Shortly after the season wrapped, the Vikings made the tough decision to fire general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah amidst an atmosphere of reported tension within the team, according to ESPN.

Vikings owner Mark Wilf noted during a press conference that the firing was not just tied to a single decision but was rather a reflection of the overall state of the team. “This is an important offseason,” Wilf stated back in January. “Ultimately, we felt a change was needed in our football operations and were uncomfortable going into this offseason with our current leadership. It’s not about one decision or action.”

As the offseason progresses, Minnesota has yet to appoint a new general manager, with Vice President of Football Operations Rob Brzezinski taking the lead on team decisions during this transition.

The organization has already sought interviews with 49ers assistant GM RJ Guillen and Titans assistant GM Dave Ziegler for the role. As the offseason unfolds, the Vikings are eager to clarify their general manager situation soon.
