Alisha Newman Invited to Victoria’s Secret Casting After Suspension

Olympic pole vaulter Alisha Newman recently passed a tryout for Victoria’s Secret, following a 20-month suspension from the Athletics Integrity Unit that began on April 29 due to a failed drug test.

The 31-year-old Canadian athlete, who earned a bronze medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics, announced on social media her invitation to the casting call for this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, scheduled for the fall. “See you soon! @victoriassecret 🌸💖,” she wrote, sharing a photo of herself in a pink bikini.

She posted the invitation that stated: “Congratulations! We invite you directly to the casting for your chance to appear in the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”

In addition to the announcement, Newman shared videos on her Instagram Stories of her training in an indoor gym and executing backflips.

“I prepare for @victoriassecret the same way I prepare for the Olympics. Add something scary to each week,” she mentioned, hinting at her preparations for the fall event.

Originally from Ontario, she noted that she has “uprooted my whole life” to relocate to Los Angeles. Her recent TikTok video seems to capture that transition.

The Victoria’s Secret casting call deadline was on a recent Wednesday. Those chosen for the 2026 show will also sign an exclusive contract with IMG Models.

Newman has been sharpening her runway skills elsewhere, as seen in her TikTok videos.

She faced a tough situation last year, having missed three drug tests in 2025, which ultimately led to her 20-month suspension.

According to a statement, “The athlete did not dispute that she had committed an anti-doping rule violation,” but clarified that the failure in reporting her whereabouts spanned a significant duration. She had expressed her intention to step back from track and field, citing personal and professional upheaval that was becoming quite overwhelming.

This was her first anti-doping rule violation, despite her earlier plans to exit her athletic career.
