NBC News Criticized for Biased Coverage of Kyle Rittenhouse
NBC News faced heavy backlash for what many deemed an overtly biased post about Kyle Rittenhouse. The post, which garnered considerable attention, was criticized for its language and implications regarding Rittenhouse’s past actions.
Rittenhouse became a controversial figure in 2020 when he shot three men during a protest in Wisconsin, resulting in the death of two. He was later acquitted of all charges related to the incident.
In a recent report about Rittenhouse being bitten by a spider, NBC hinted at his potential guilt concerning the protests, drawing outrage from various commentators. One comment described the tweet as “objectively insane.”
Media critics quickly condemned the report as yet another example of media bias. Journalist Andy Ngo stated that the post exemplified “liberal legacy media disinformation.” Dan Gaynor, a media critic, expressed frustration, questioning whether NBC employees are either misinformed or deliberately misleading, suggesting it could be both.
Another critic remarked on the ignorance displayed in the tweet, stating, “Even for NBC, this stands out as particularly ill-informed.” Others chimed in, saying that while opinions about Rittenhouse vary, the post was outright outrageous.
One user pointed out that the language used contributed to the broader distrust of mainstream media. The post went viral, reaching over 4.8 million views within a day.
Interestingly, some responses focused on Rittenhouse himself in a mocking manner, with one commenter asking, “Is the spider okay?”
Critics also highlighted that NBC did not mention the criminal backgrounds of the individuals Rittenhouse shot, noting that one was a convicted child molester.
