Dave Courier Discusses Health Changes
Dave Courier is opening up about the health challenges that have led to noticeable changes in his appearance and voice.
The Full House star shared a video on Instagram, addressing comments from followers who mentioned that he looked thinner and sounded different. “Hello everyone, it’s me, Dave. I haven’t posted in a while, but I wanted to say that I agree; I do look and sound different,” he stated. “What you’re noticing are the side effects of the extensive radiation treatment I received for throat cancer.”
Courier elaborated on the physical toll the treatment took on him. He lost 45 pounds after struggling to eat solid food for several months, which also impacted his speech. “I lost 45 pounds because I couldn’t eat solid food for months, and you can see that. It also changed my ability to speak. Some people say my voice is different, and I completely understand what you see and hear,” he said.
On a positive note, Courier shared some encouraging news about his health. Following a recent PET scan, he mentioned, “The prognosis for both the throat carcinoma and lymphoma looks good, so I’m very happy with that.”
In November 2024, Courier first revealed his diagnosis of stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. A month later, he announced that he was also diagnosed with P16 squamous cell carcinoma at the base of his tongue, just a year after completing treatment for lymphoma.
In February, he told Good Morning America that he was in remission after undergoing surgery for tongue cancer and additional treatment for lymphoma. “It’s been a real roller coaster,” he expressed at the time. “I’m in remission with both cancers, and what an incredible journey it’s been.”
Although it’s a serious update from the beloved sitcom star, Courier’s latest message brings some hope that fans were eager to hear.
