Authorities in Kentucky have apprehended a woman who allegedly gave her 22-month-old child a tattoo. The suspect, 27-year-old Brooke McDaniel, was arrested last Monday by the Kentucky State Police (KSP), as reported by the Adair County Regional Jail.
Investigators discovered the family living in what was described as “deplorable” conditions during a home visit. They found a toddler with a tattoo consisting of black dots on his arm, accompanied by noticeable redness around the area, according to local reports. Witnesses mentioned that they suspected McDaniel was in the act of tattooing her child while she was tattooing herself.
McDaniel was taken into custody in Monticello after a child abuse complaint was lodged, as indicated in the arrest documents. When questioned, authorities said she admitted to the allegations. She stated that while she was tattooing her leg, her child unexpectedly came up and placed his arm in front of her tattoo gun.
This led officers to find a tattoo resembling a “party dot” on the child’s right forearm. Witnesses described it as something the toddler “wanted” for himself.
Due to the shocking conditions inside the home, police contacted the Department of Community-based Services for further evaluation. McDaniel is facing charges of fourth-degree assault, or child abuse, and is currently held at Adair County Regional Jail. Efforts to gather more information from Kentucky State Police are ongoing.
