If I didn’t know any better, I might have thought that Cheyenne Collin from 6abc was amidst the excitement at Madison Square Garden.
On Sunday, after the Knicks triumphed over the Sixers 144-114 in Game 4, reporters from Philadelphia’s ABC affiliate found themselves surrounded by jubilant Knicks fans at Xfinity Mobile Arena, marking the team’s return to the Conference Finals for the second consecutive year.
Collin quickly became the center of attention online, as she was seen on-air while being joyfully overwhelmed by Knicks supporters.
“Watch me get thoroughly trolled by Knicks fans in Philadelphia after the Sixers lost,” she mentioned with a clip of her report, which she posted on TikTok.
Her Instagram Stories featured a moment where Knicks fans chanted “fk Embiid” in celebration after the victory.
In response to a post by Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy claiming “Philadelphia is broken,” she quipped on her Instagram Story, “We’re still standing strong, just like me in this live shot.”
While the atmosphere was electric for Knicks fans, the mood was quite the opposite for Sixers supporters, who felt heartbroken witnessing their team exit from the playoffs. One fan even described it as a “Mother’s Day Massacre.”
“Sell the team, fire Nick Nurse, everybody’s gone,” a young fan shared with a Philly news outlet. “Let’s let Kyle Lowry coach.”
A fan was visibly emotional, expressing her love for the team and heartbreak over the loss, hoping that Joel Embiid would stay with the franchise.
The Cavaliers and Pistons are still competing in the best-of-seven series, leaving the Knicks waiting to see who their next challenger will be.
