Amazon Launches 30-Minute Delivery Service

Amazon has introduced a new delivery service, allowing customers in several U.S. cities to receive their orders in just 30 minutes. This service, named Amazon Now, represents the company’s latest step toward ultra-fast delivery options.

Customers can order a wide range of items, including groceries, household products, and electronics, all delivered right to their doors within about half an hour. Currently, Amazon Now operates in cities like Seattle, Philadelphia, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Atlanta, with plans to expand to additional locations such as Austin, Denver, Houston, Minneapolis, Orlando, Oklahoma City, and Phoenix.

According to Udit Madan, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations, “Amazon Now is designed for those who appreciate the convenience of fast delivery.” He explained that customers can quickly get everything from dinner groceries to must-have electronics like AirPods.

“Amazon Now builds on our existing expedited delivery services, including one- and three-hour options for over 90,000 items and same-day delivery for millions,” Madan noted.

The new service utilizes smaller fulfillment centers located closer to customers, which helps reduce delivery times and distances for drivers.

For Prime members, the fee is set at $3.99 per order, while non-members will pay $13.99. Additional fees may apply for smaller orders under $15, with Prime members facing a $1.99 charge and non-members $3.99.

Amazon emphasizes that its smaller fulfillment sites are designed to efficiently meet demand, prioritizing employee safety and quicker delivery times.

This latest initiative is part of a broader strategy, with Amazon aiming to make this service available to millions of customers by the end of 2026.

Amazon Imposes Extra Fees on Sellers Due to Rising Logistics Costs

The launch coincides with Amazon’s ongoing commitment to expedite deliveries, with Prime members reportedly receiving over 8 billion same-day or next-day items in 2025, a significant increase compared to the previous year.

This new delivery option adds to Amazon’s extensive delivery network, which also includes drone deliveries and various fast delivery choices in numerous locations. The company noted that 2025 saw third consecutive years of record delivery speeds, with over 13 billion items delivered within a day internationally. In the U.S., Prime members accounted for more than 8 billion of these packages.

Amazon Provides Extensive Benefits to Prime Members

Amazon claims Prime members enjoy free shipping on over 300 million items, with an average savings of $550 on expedited shipping last year, which is nearly four times the annual membership fee.
