Protests Erupt in Portland Over FBI Director’s Alleged Visit
Over the weekend, demonstrators in Portland, Oregon, stormed a hotel, reportedly to protest FBI Director Kash Patel, who was believed to be staying there.
Patel was thought to be in Portland for a friend’s funeral, although his exact whereabouts were unconfirmed. Protesters targeted the Sentinel Hotel, primarily known for its police operations.
One protester commented, “It’s not 100% confirmed, but it’s very likely he was in Sentinel.” According to FOX 12, the protesters aimed to voice their opposition to what they perceived as the weaponization of the FBI under Trump and Patel, which they claimed was used to stifle free speech and the press. However, the report did not provide specific examples to support this claim.
Additionally, the protestors expressed their anger regarding the handling of Epstein documents. Video footage from the scene showed chaos, complete with screams and flashing police lights outside the hotel.
Reports indicated that a Gulfstream G550 jet operated by the Department of Justice flew from Camp Springs, Maryland, to Portland between May 8 and May 10.
This protest comes in light of Patel’s recent focus on the Justice Department’s initiatives aimed at rescuing children and targeting child predators.
In one of his latest updates, Patel discussed Operation Iron Pursuit and Operation Clean Sweep, which led to over 300 arrests of child predators and the identification of more than 200 child victims.
“This week we announced the outstanding results of Operation Iron Track, a month-long systematic effort to identify victims of child exploitation,” Patel said. He noted that, thanks to their teams and partners across all 56 field offices, over 200 child victims were identified, and more than 350 offenders were arrested, including 192 facing federal charges.
Additionally, various drugs and firearms were seized during these operations.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that Operation Iron Pursuit “sends a warning to all child predators: We are coming for you.” He emphasized that “sexual exploitation of minors is an abhorrent act that has no place in our society. We will hunt down criminals, hold them fully accountable under the law, and bring justice to their victims.”
Protests in Portland are not new, especially considering the city’s tumultuous events in 2020, when it became a focal point for Antifa-related lawlessness and violence.
