Brandon Clark, a forward for the Memphis Grizzlies, reportedly passed away on Tuesday. He was just 29 years old.
Details regarding the circumstances of the Canadian athlete’s death remain unclear as of now.
Clark entered the NBA in 2019 as the 21st overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder but was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies shortly after joining the league.
Throughout his seven seasons in the NBA, Clark played in 309 games but faced significant challenges during the 2025-2026 season, participating in only seven games due to a calf strain.
“We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Brandon Clarke,” said his agency, Priority Sports. “He was cherished by all of us and by everyone whose life he influenced. His kindness was unparalleled, always being there for his friends and family.”
His career averages stand at 10.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
Early in his career, he showed immense potential and was named to the All-NBA Rookie Team in 2019.
Originally from Vancouver, Clark made history as the first U.S. baseball player to play at San Jose State University before transferring to Gonzaga in Washington State.
The Grizzlies expressed their sorrow over his passing.
“We are devastated by the loss of Brandon Clark,” the team shared on Instagram. “He was not only a fantastic teammate but an even better person. His impact on our organization and the Memphis community will always be remembered. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family and friends during this tough time.”
Clark faced legal trouble in Arkansas earlier, involving a high-speed chase and charges related to possession and trafficking of kratom.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for more updates…
