Whistleblower to Testify on COVID-19 Origins Cover-Up

A whistleblower is set to provide testimony before the Senate, which will address claims of a cover-up regarding the origins of the coronavirus.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee plans to hear from an anonymous long-serving CIA employee on Wednesday, focusing on allegations that the federal government and intelligence agencies were involved in a cover-up concerning the virus’s origins.

This hearing is part of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul’s ongoing efforts to hold former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director, Dr. Anthony Fauci, accountable for his actions related to the COVID-19 origins investigation, the government’s response to the virus, and actions taken during the pandemic.

Interestingly, this hearing comes just before a deadline for the Department of Justice to charge Fauci for allegedly lying to Congress about gain-of-function research tied to COVID-19, which can enhance a virus’s transmissibility or severity by modifying its genetic structure. The timeframe for filing a lawsuit against Fauci on this matter ended on Monday.

Rand Paul commented, “The Department of Justice may never act, but the American people know the truth. Mr. Fauci deceived and misled this country. I will not stop uncovering the truth about the massive cover-up of coronavirus, which is why I will have a whistleblower testify before my committee this Wednesday.”

Fauci has strongly denied these allegations, asserting that he did not lie concerning the National Institutes of Health’s funding for research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and stating that the research didn’t qualify as gain-of-function.

However, last month, David Morens, a key adviser to Fauci at NIAID, was indicted by the Justice Department. He is accused of using a personal email to obscure communications related to a contentious coronavirus research grant connected to the Wuhan lab.

Wednesday’s hearing will center on the testimony of the CIA employee described by Paul. This individual was assigned to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and participated in assessments regarding the origins of the pandemic in Wuhan.

Paul stated, “For years, Americans have been told to stop asking questions about the origins of the coronavirus. Today, a whistleblower with firsthand knowledge will testify that intelligence officials may have withheld evidence, changed conclusions, and concealed the truth from the public.”
