OnlyFans creators are upset by Sydney Sweeney's mocking of their lifestyle on her TV show.

Mixed Reactions to Euphoria’s Controversial Scene

For some creators on OnlyFans, the idea of dressing as a dog can feel degrading. In the show “Euphoria,” Sidney Sweeney’s character takes on a bizarre role for a porn shoot to finance a lavish wedding, involving some outlandish appearances like posing as a dog and dressing like a baby. These depictions, of course, touch on the themes of subscription-based platforms.

Responses from Industry Creators

Following Sweeney’s scene, several women who earn a living on fan sites, largely focused on adult content, shared their thoughts with the Hollywood-focused outlet Variety. They found the portrayal of Sweeney’s character to be excessively exaggerated, and they even labeled it as unsuitable for a porn actress.

Women noted that some of the scenarios in the show seemed “ridiculous and cartoonish.” Sydney Leathers, a seasoned OnlyFans creator, expressed her frustration, stating, “There are many things being depicted that aren’t even permitted on OnlyFans, and that just annoys me.” She pointed out issues like age play, drawing attention to the strict guidelines credit card processors impose.

Maitland Ward, a former star from “Boy Meets World” turned adult actress, criticized Sweeney for reinforcing the stereotype that sex workers lack ethics and are willing to do anything for money.

Concerns Over Depictions

Ward labeled the situation as “beyond the point,” emphasizing that equating sex work with abuse is a harmful misconception. “There’s this persistent stigma that sex work is synonymous with trafficking and abuse. It’s frustrating to see it made light of,” she remarked.

Ward reportedly makes an impressive $100,000 a month on OnlyFans, alongside her traditional adult film work. Alix Lynx, another nude actress and OnlyFans creator, also noted that while some concepts in “Euphoria” had potential, there are misguided notions around achieving success in such a lucrative space.

Lynx pointed out, “It’s often assumed that dressing up in wild costumes and being alluring can lead to quick financial success. But that’s not how it works. You genuinely have to cultivate and cherish your audience.” She indicated that establishing a solid following for explicit content is a formidable task.
