Investigation Surrounds D.C. Assistant Police Chief
D.C. Assistant Police Chief Andre Wright and his wife Natasha were placed on administrative leave in March, amid an ongoing investigation into their conduct.
Recent reports shed light on some inappropriate behavior. During a morning meeting, Andre Wright allegedly messaged his wife from his work phone, making a derogatory remark about a colleague. According to Emma Uber of City Cast DC, she accessed an 18-page internal affairs summary detailing the texts exchanged between the couple.
(I mean, I wouldn’t appreciate my partner commenting on another woman’s physical attributes, but, well, everyone has their own take on things.)
In another text related to an upcoming trip, Andre reportedly wrote to Natasha, “I’m going out of town with a fat ugly bitch, will be back tomorrow.” This was followed by a comment about bringing along “two midgets.” Subsequently, after a shooting incident in March 2025, he allegedly texted his wife, questioning whether a suspect had accidentally harmed himself.
According to a tweet from Emma Uber, an investigation into Andre Wright’s messages shows a pattern of questioning crime classifications, soliciting sexual acts, and disparaging colleagues and subordinates.
While his choice of words might suggest a lack of professionalism, one could argue there’s a certain degree of intimacy in venting to a spouse. If you can’t express frustrations to your partner, who can you turn to?
The texts hint at what some might consider a “strategy” for discussing female coworkers with a spouse: using unflattering descriptors to avoid jealousy. This could potentially be more subtly done; for instance, one might mention “Chloe, you know, that girl who sort of walks like a duck.”
If these messages did originate from Wright’s work phone, it raises questions about his judgment. He faces more serious allegations regarding manipulation of crime data. In 2022, his ex-wife filed a formal complaint claiming he misused MPD resources, had an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate, and drank while on duty.
“There is no abuse of power,” Wright stated. “I’ve been in this position for almost 28 years. I’ve never misused my authority. The fact that this ongoing scrutiny feels like a witch hunt is troubling.”
Regardless of the allegations, it seems that Andre Wright’s current marital relationship is holding up.
