Earlier this month, disturbing new allegations emerged against former MLB pitcher Carl Pavano. Reports indicate that police visited his home alongside his ex-wife, Alyssa, nine times over the last two years. Initially, Alyssa accused Pavano of “controlling behavior,” which included name-calling, limiting finances, and threatening to take away their children during a contentious pre-marital dispute.
The couple finalized their divorce in December, but recent court documents from Alyssa claim some shocking acts by Pavano. Notably, she alleges he urinated in a shampoo bottle and made the bed unclean while she was parenting by letting his sexual partner use their bed. Additionally, there’s a claim that he removed all clean linens from the home to ensure Alyssa wouldn’t have a sanitary sleeping environment during her time with the kids.
In an unsettling move, shortly after divorce papers were filed, Pavano allegedly sent a photo of several firearms lined up on a kitchen table in a group chat with Alyssa and their children. Currently, they share custody of their three kids and live together weekly in Fairfield, Connecticut, where Pavano holds the home through a trust.
Alyssa also accused Pavano of coercing her into signing a one-sided prenuptial agreement. According to her attorney, while such agreements can outline financial responsibilities in a marriage, it shouldn’t be used to financially threaten a spouse, especially when children are involved. The attorney’s perspective suggests that the purpose of a prenup is to clarify financial interests, not to ensure a parent ends up in poverty.
Pavano’s career saw him pitch for teams like the Montreal Expos and the Florida Marlins, and he was named an All-Star in 2004. However, his stint with the New York Yankees is marked by disappointment; he only started 26 games in four years, leading many to label him as one of the worst signings in team history.
