Not everyone was pleased with George Kittle’s recent antics involving a spider.
The day after the 49ers tight end proudly shared how he dealt with a spider that startled his wife in their bathroom, PETA spoke out against his actions.
PETA’s Executive Vice President, Lisa Lang, stated, “Spiders are much smaller than humans, and it seems that people, far more than NFL players, are often afraid of them. So there’s really no reason to be harsh towards them.”
PETA urged Kittle to reconsider his approach to these uninvited guests, suggesting he adopt a more compassionate way of handling such encounters.
In a detailed post on his X page, Kittle described the spider as being “the size of a half dollar” and mentioned that he only managed to squash it using his rehab ramp board.
His wife Claire later referred to the incident as “disgusting” but playfully dubbed her husband a “knight in shining armor” for handling the situation.
PETA, however, emphasizes a different perspective and has committed to sending Kittle a “humane bug catcher” for future situations.
The organization highlighted the ecological importance of spiders and pointed out that most of them pose no threat to humans at all. To help keep spiders away, they recommended natural deterrents like peppermint oil.
