Speaker receives death threats after the death of a trans-identifying student — suspect surrenders

Death Threats Follow Murder Case of Transgender Student

In a tragic turn of events surrounding a recent murder case, a speaker from Turning Point USA has faced death threats after a suspect in the murder of a transgender student surrendered to police. This student, just 19 years old, was found dead in a laundry room of an off-campus apartment located close to the University of Washington, with police confirming that he had sustained stab wounds.

Following the incident, a notable transition activist and speaker, Chloe Cole, was set to appear at an event at California State University. However, she received a wave of hostile messages, leading to the cancellation of the event. In a video, Cole expressed her dismay over the “hundreds of hateful messages” that flooded in after the murder was made public.

“There was a local Antifa group that seemed to be organizing protests against me,” Cole shared, mentioning the comments she saw online, like, “I hope we get Kirked.” This remark apparently alluded to the shooting death of Turning Point USA’s founder, Charlie Kirk.

Cole disclosed that she had received more than 200 threats of violence directed towards her and her group at Washington University, which she detailed in communication with Newsweek. Despite the chaos, she remains committed to rescheduling her lecture at the University of California. “I am personally determined to speak on that campus,” she asserted.

Some individuals have pointed fingers at TPUSA, blaming them for the incident involving the transgender student. However, Seattle police provided a new lead on Wednesday, releasing a photo from surveillance footage that could help identify the suspect. The following day, a 31-year-old man presented himself to the police, facing charges of murder.

In response to the violence and the threats that have surfaced since the tragedy, Turning Point USA issued a statement regarding the event’s cancellation. They emphasized the unrelenting rise in violent threats against their chapter, suggesting that these acts were seemingly aimed at wrongfully linking their peaceful event to the murder. Adding to the narrative, they strongly condemned any acts of violence directed towards transgender individuals.

A spokesperson for the university mentioned that they were not aware of any threats related to the event.
