TNA X Division Championship Highlights
In a thrilling match on Thursday night, all eyes were on Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) as Leon Slater went head-to-head with Cedric Alexander for the X Division Championship. Slater came out on top, defeating Alexander and marking a significant achievement as the longest-reigning X Division Champion in TNA history.
This match was particularly important for Slater, who was looking to break Austin Aries’ longstanding record. To hold onto his title, he had to pin Alexander twice—a tough challenge, especially considering Alexander’s impressive profile since joining TNA.
The match kicked off with intense energy; both competitors exchanged fierce blows. But Slater, being quick on his feet, managed to pin Alexander in the first fall.
After that initial pin, Alexander retaliated vigorously, executing a striking German suplex outside the ring and honing in on Slater’s neck. He quickly leveled the score to 1-1 with a backdrop maneuver.
In response, Slater pulled a remarkable move out of his playbook, delivering an avalanche-style Styles Crash that many other wrestlers might not have survived. But, surprising everyone, Alexander kicked out. For a brief moment, he managed to counter Slater’s aerial attacks before sending him crashing to the outside.
At one point, Alexander even slammed Slater into the steel steps, confidently declaring that he would be the greatest X Division Champion. After a brainbuster, he attempted another pin but came up short.
While Slater struggled to keep up, Alexander landed multiple strikes, including a lumber check that Slater narrowly escaped. With energy running low, Slater pushed through, but Alexander went for another high-risk move, a Swanton 450, that missed, yet he kept the momentum alive with repeated lumber checks.
Ultimately, the match concluded in favor of Slater, pleasing fans in Sacramento, California. This victory marked Alexander’s initial reign with TNA, suggesting he might have more in store.
Fabian Eichner’s Challenge
Just as TNA’s broadcast was wrapping up, an unexpected twist occurred. The lights dimmed in the Sacramento arena, and out emerged Fabian Eichner, signaling his intent to challenge for the X Division Championship. Formerly Giovanni Vinci in WWE, he had been absent from the wrestling scene for several months.
In addition, Eric Young earned himself a future shot at the TNA World Championship after winning an intense battle royal against nine other competitors, overcoming Elijah and various contenders to secure his spot.
Young, during his victory speech, ominously noted that Mike Santana was next on his list as a target for elimination.
Upcoming Championship Matches
Speaking of Santana, he acknowledged Young’s role in TNA’s history while asserting his dominance as the current TNA World Champion. Next week, a matchup is scheduled where Santana will defend his title against Steve Maclin, who has finally returned from injury.
Knockouts Rivalry Expands
The rivalry between Lei Ying Li and Xia Brookside intensified as Li addressed the crowd post-match, only to be interrupted by Brookside. Their heated exchange hinted at a brewing conflict over the TNA Knockouts Championship.
AJ Francis vs. KC Navarro
In a preceding match, AJ Francis demonstrated his strength against KC Navarro in a street fight, utilizing a baseball bat amidst the chaos. After a series of hard-hitting exchanges, Francis managed to outlast Navarro and secure a decisive victory.
