You might recall the way the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2025 season wrapped up.
After a promising 6-2 start, Baker Mayfield’s team struggled with a disappointing 2-7 finish, ending the season at 8-9 and just missing the playoffs. Interestingly, they managed to defeat their NFC South rival, the Carolina Panthers, in Week 18.
During this challenging period, head coach Todd Bowles addressed his players, stating, “That was inexcusable… It was very inexcusable, and there’s no answer to that. There are no excuses. That’s what I tell them in the locker room. Look in the mirror.”
Those remarks were tough to hear, but let’s hope Bowles doesn’t have to repeat them again.
With the 2026 NFL schedule now released, we can see who the Buccaneers will face this year as they aim for redemption.
Key opponents heading to Raymond James Stadium include Kyler Murray’s Minnesota Vikings on September 27, Jordan Love’s Green Bay Packers on October 4, TJ Watt’s Pittsburgh Steelers on October 18, Justin Herbert’s Los Angeles Chargers on December 6, and Matthew Stafford’s Los Angeles Rams on January 27. Just a three-point difference in their last home game.
A rematch against Bryce Young’s Carolina Panthers is also on the calendar for Monday, November 30, which should be quite intense after their last encounter.
Despite a challenging offseason that saw Mike Evans resign and Lavonte David retire, general manager Jason Licht is working hard to assemble a competitive team for Bowles.
Recent signings include linebacker Alex Anzalone, tight end Cade Otten, running back Kenneth Gainwell, defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson, and linebacker Al-Quadin Muhammad.
The team will also bring back standout players like No. 15 pick Reuben Bain Jr., No. 46 Josiah Trotter, as well as play-caller Mayfield, safety Antoine Winfield Jr., offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs, wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr., and defensive tackle Vita Vea.
What’s still needed is you.
