Athena’s Dominance Continues in ROH Supercard of Honor

Athena maintains her reputation as a leading champion in professional wrestling, showcased once again during the Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor on Friday night.

The event featured a 6-way match for the Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship, where Athena went head-to-head with Billy Starks, Maya World, Trish Adora, Yuka Sakazaki, and Zyda Steele. Throughout the match, various foreign objects—including chairs and ladders—were used, adding to the chaos.

Athena quickly eliminated Steele but faced tough challenges ahead. At one point, Adora seized the opportunity to deliver a brutal chokeslam to Athena during the fray.

Likewise, Sakazaki aimed to put Athena down for good. She attempted a dramatic move by sending Athena crashing through a table with a splash from the middle of the ring, which was quite a spectacle.

Despite these setbacks, Athena held her ground. Demonstrating her resilience, she climbed a ladder about 10 feet high and executed an O-Face on World, securing her final elimination of the night.

With this victory, Athena has now held the Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship for over 1,253 days. Earlier this week, she shared her ambition to surpass the legendary reign of Bruno Sammartino, who famously held his title for 2,803 days.

She reflected on her upcoming match and what it meant for her: “When I beat Roman Reigns’ last epic championship run, I’m going to throw the smallest celebration ever. Picture this: kittens, green apple Skittles, whiskey, tequila, all amidst a big buffet party.” It’s that personal touch in her ambition that many fans appreciate.

Athena, acknowledging her prolonged reign, expressed, “When you’re the ‘eternal champion,’ how long do you actually measure? I think about my tenure a lot. I’m pretty proud of being the champion for such a long time, even if it’s not always obvious.” Her confidence seems unshakeable, doesn’t it?
