Rams Sign Undrafted Free Agent with NBA Connection
When the Rams revealed their roster, they included a noteworthy name that will resonate with basketball fans.
Darryl Peterson III is set to play for the Rams, and he happens to be the older brother of distinguished NBA prospect Darrin Peterson. Many analysts regard him as one of the top two players anticipated in the 2026 NBA Draft, alongside BYU’s AJ Divanza.
Interestingly, both brothers are making headlines for their respective sports in the same year. According to NBA reporter Kristen Peek, they will be the first siblings to enter the NFL and NBA during the same season.
After facing scrutiny regarding his character and work ethic following a previous incident at Kansas, Darrin effectively silenced critics with an impressive showing at the recent NBA Draft Combine.
During the interviews, Darrin spoke at length about his brother Darryl, saying, “A lot of people don’t know, but my brother played football at Wisconsin. He’s a great football player who just signed with the Los Angeles Rams. We grew up chasing the same dreams even though we chose different sports, so it’s incredible to see him pursuing his goals while I aim to reach mine next month. I really appreciate our parents; their support made all the difference.”
As for their future, Darrin is expected to be drafted by either Washington or Utah, while Darryl will be making his mark in Los Angeles with the Rams.
In his senior year at Wisconsin, Darryl played in all 12 games and led the team with 11.5 tackles and 6.5 sacks. He received honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition as the Badgers wrapped up their season with a 4-8 record, 2-7 in conference play.
It’s quite the story—two brothers making their names in professional sports at the same time. It’s a unique situation that many will be watching closely.
