Trump shares the 'one thing' he and Mark Cuban share at TrumpRX event

Trump and Cuban Unite for Prescription Drug Initiative

President Trump and Mark Cuban showcased their “love-hate” relationship at the White House on Monday, discussing affordable prescription drugs through TrumpRx, where Cuban promoted his online pharmacy, Cost Plus Drugs.

During the event, Trump was questioned about collaborating with Cuban to reduce drug prices, even as he had previously backed Kamala Harris for the 2024 election. “Well, he made a mistake,” Trump quipped, referring to Cuban’s endorsement.

Cuban chuckled at Trump’s comment. “He was joking,” he remarked later to reporters. “I’m not concerned about that.” Their friendship, spanning over 20 years, persisted despite Cuban’s support for Trump’s opponent. He characterized their bond as one marked by both camaraderie and tension.

The light-hearted exchange continued as Trump complimented Cuban, saying they “have one thing in common.” He emphasized their shared goal: “We want to make people better and keep them wealthy.”

Cuban clarified that his visit was focused on health care rather than politics, asserting, “My politics have nothing to do with this.” He brushed aside prior criticism of Trump as “last season.”

In line with the announcement, 600 new generic drugs will be available on TrumpRx, enhancing access for consumers alongside offerings from Amazon Pharmacy and GoodRx.

“By adding a wide range of affordable generic medications to TrumpRx.gov, we aim to provide consumers with a one-stop resource to secure their prescriptions at the best prices,” Trump stated.

Cuban pointed out that lowering health care costs is a shared concern across political lines. “The goal is to reduce health care costs, and we are completely aligned,” he noted, focusing on solutions rather than political battles.

Expressing enthusiasm for his new initiative, Cuban said he’s open to collaborations. “If you’re aiming to cut health care costs, you’re my new best friend,” he added, showing a commitment to making health care more affordable.

Having launched his pharmaceutical website in 2022, Cuban has been dedicated to selling medications at cost price, ensuring transparency in pricing by revealing manufacturer costs. His ultimate aim is to tackle soaring health care expenses, which often outpace inflation in the U.S. economy.

While there was a time he considered running for president, Cuban dismissed those ambitions outside the West Wing, quipping, “It’s crazy,” as he braved the heat of a sweltering day.
