JD Vance Criticizes Reporter for 'Question That Seemed Like a Speech'

Vice President Vance Critiques Press Conference Questions

WASHINGTON—During a press conference at the White House on Tuesday, Vice President J.D. Vance expressed frustration with reporters, specifically calling out their tendency to deliver “speeches disguised as questions.”

Reporter Andrew Feinberg took nearly a minute and a half to ask his question, which was about President Donald Trump allegedly profiting from stock sales under misleading circumstances.

In response to Feinberg’s lengthy query, Vance described it as “ridiculous.” He remarked, “Let me answer your question here: That was ridiculous,” adding, “I would like to observe that there are different ways to ask the question.”

Vance continued, pointing out that some questions feel more like speeches, saying, “It could be just asking a question and trying to get an answer, or it could be something like, ‘Vice President, you know you’re a terrible person…’” He emphasized that many of the questions presented are often more about the speaker’s view than genuine inquiry.

After his critique, Vance addressed Feinberg’s question directly. He clarified, “First of all, the president doesn’t sit in the Oval Office and buy and sell stocks on a computer like a Robinhood account. That’s ridiculous. He has an independent wealth advisor managing his finances.” He insisted that the president does not handle stock trades personally, which he felt was implied in the question.

Vance further stated his position on stock trading among Congress members, noting, “I’m all for banning members of Congress from trading stocks. Same goes for the president of the United States.” He argued for stricter regulations to prevent anyone from misusing confidential information gained from public service in stock transactions, aligning with a proposal made by the president.

Mr. Vance fielded questions during the briefing, which featured representatives from various media outlets, including Breitbart News.
