Obama's Colbert interview about 'fake applause' takes a turn with 'little green men' denial

Obama Talks Politics and Aliens on Colbert’s Show

Former President Barack Obama made a recent appearance on Stephen Colbert’s late-night show, addressing various topics, including the current presidency’s shortcomings and skepticism surrounding extraterrestrial life.

Blaze TV Host Pat Gray expressed his dissatisfaction, suggesting that the applause during the interview felt somewhat “fake.” He noted, “I’ve never seen anything like that in an interview with a president,” which, I guess, raises a few eyebrows.

During his chat with Colbert, Obama remarked on the idea of bipartisanship, stating, “the president’s core is bipartisan,” but then quickly shifted to share his worries about the Republican Party and Donald Trump.

He explained, “The reason I say that is because I’m concerned about not just Democrats, but Republicans,” which Gray seemed to dismiss with skepticism.

Reflecting on his presidency, Obama recalled being asked, “So what changes would you like to see in Washington?” He responded, “I like a loyal opposition party. I love the Republican Party, which is conservative in some ways and disagrees with me on many matters, but believes in the rule of law.”

He underscored the need to return to fundamental norms, suggesting it might be essential to establish clear boundaries, such as ensuring “the White House should not be able to direct the attorney general to indict anyone.” Obama elaborated, “The attorney general is the people’s lawyer, not the president’s consigliere, right?”

Many were reportedly skeptical as he continued, stating, “we cannot overcome the politicization of the criminal justice system,” which drew a round of, shall we say, dubious applause.

Colbert then inquired about Obama’s stance on aliens. Obama humorously noted that for those who think “there are little green people out there somewhere underground,” it might be unnecessary to speculate because “the government is bad at keeping secrets.” He added, “If there were aliens or alien spaceships or anything we know about, I promise you some guy guarding the facility would have taken a selfie with one of the aliens and sent it to his girlfriend.”

Curious, Colbert asked Obama, “Do you wish they were real?” To which Obama replied, “Actually, I think so.” This prompted a comment from Executive Producer Keith Marinak, who remarked he “never denied it.”
