Trump criticizes the Senate Parliamentarian: ‘She has been harsh on Republicans’

Trump Calls for Senate Parliamentarian’s Replacement

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social, urging Senate Republicans to oust Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough. He accused her of showing a clear bias against the GOP.

This demand came in the wake of MacDonough’s ruling, which blocked taxpayer funding for security related to a proposed ballroom at the White House from an upcoming budget reconciliation package.

Trump didn’t hold back, criticizing Republicans for not being firm enough, claiming that tolerating her role has become a significant political weakness for the party.

“It’s shocking that Republicans have kept this crucial position in the hands of Elizabeth MacDonough, who was appointed long ago by Barack Obama and Senator Harry Reid, who ran the Senate with an iron fist,” Trump remarked.

“She has been tough on Republicans, yet lenient towards Democrats. So why hasn’t she been replaced? There are plenty of fair candidates for this essential job. The Republicans are playing a soft game compared to the Democrats. This is their biggest disadvantage in politics. Democrats cheat and stick together, while Republicans let figures like Elizabeth MacDonough remain in power and treat us poorly,” he continued.

The Senate Parliamentarian plays a crucial, nonpartisan role in advising on the intricate rules and procedures of the Senate. MacDonough has held this position since being appointed in 2012, marking her as the first woman to do so since the role was established in 1935.

In his post, Trump also pivoted to discussing the SAVE America Act.

“We need THE SAVE AMERICA ACT passed, immediately – and we should eliminate the Filibuster, which would grant us everything! If we don’t get at least one of these things done soon, we may never see another Republican President again,” he stated.

“The Democrats will get rid of the Filibuster as soon as they can. The Republicans are hesitant because they think Democrats won’t do it, but they’re wrong. Republicans need to be smart and tough, or they’ll find themselves searching for jobs much sooner than they expect!” Trump concluded.
