Chris Shepherd, a renowned chef and founder of Georgia James Steakhouse in Houston, recently stated that Walmart stands out as a top spot for purchasing USDA Prime Beef in the U.S. He highlighted the retailer’s ability to provide quality steak options at budget-friendly prices, a significant point for many shoppers seeking to save money without compromising on meat quality.

Shepherd emphasized the quality of prime beef, noting its rich marbling that enhances flavor and tenderness. According to him, Walmart’s prices for this premium beef are competitive with those found at Costco and Sam’s Club.
Walmart’s partnership with McLaren Farms was also mentioned, as the farm will support Walmart’s Angus beef supply chain program. Shepherd expressed admiration for this initiative, indicating a focus on collaborating with independent farmers and promoting superior Black Angus genetics.
