Report: Platner Previously Regretted Closure of Thai Prostitute 'Loophole'

Controversy Surrounds Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner

Graham Platner, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Maine, once expressed discontent over the closure of a “loophole” that previously allowed military contractors to engage with Thai sex workers. In a Reddit post from June 2019, using the username “P-Hustle,” he remarked that these contractors might prefer “beating up prostitutes in Thailand” rather than dealing with their wives back in the States.

Platner conveyed frustration, suggesting that contractors could avoid federal income taxes by vacationing in Thailand for, well, less-than-innocent activities. He noted that the loopholes vanished when Afghans began using military paychecks in ways that raised eyebrows. Following this incident, Platner acknowledged using the Reddit handle.

In his remarks, he referred to a military contract holder earning a mere $65 annually, lamenting how Afghan taxes negatively impacted all involved. His Reddit activity has faced significant scrutiny in the past couple of weeks. Some posts appeared to mock a U.S. soldier caught in a tense firefight with the Taliban.

The viral footage depicted Pfc. Ted Daniels being used as a diversion to safely evacuate others. Platner, however, derided him as a “stupid mother” whose life wasn’t worth much. He opined that the soldier’s mistakes would serve as a cautionary tale for future troops.

He even described Daniels’ survival as mainly due to “bad marksmanship” from the Taliban, adding that the soldier had every choice in small-unit combat.

In a rather personal admission, Platner shared about his experiences in a porta potty, noting the unusual conditioning linked to its smell. He previously faced backlash due to his tattoos associated with Nazi symbolism, although he has denied any connections to those ideologies.
