Leading the Future Endorses More House Republicans
Leading the Future has announced its endorsement of ten additional House Republicans in its ongoing campaign, which includes three running for Senate while still serving in the House.
This second round of endorsements from the AI-focused super PAC features notable figures such as House Minority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-KY), Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC), Rep. Julie Fedorchak (R-ND), Rep. French Hill (R-AR), Rep. Michael Baumgartner (R-WA), and Rep. Andy Barr (R-KY), along with Rep. Kevin Hahn (R-OK), Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX), and Rep. Julia Letlow (R-LA).
It’s worth mentioning that Barr, Hahn, and another representative are all vying for Senate seats while continuing their duties in the House.
In a recent primary, Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) was unsuccessful in his reelection bid. The runoff saw LeRowe, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, earning 164,145 votes (about 44.9%), while Louisiana Treasurer John Fleming secured 103,655 votes (about 28.3%). Cassidy ended up with 90,381 votes (24.7%), and since no candidate hit the majority threshold, LeRowe and Fleming moved on.
Specifically, Barr is aiming for the Senate seat that will soon be vacated by Mitch McConnell (R-KY). Interestingly, Trump has asked Kentucky entrepreneur Nate Morris to withdraw from the race and join his administration, giving his full endorsement to Barr, whom he described as a “proven political winner.”
According to Zack Moffatt, a co-strategist for Leading the Future, “We are proud to support leaders who recognize what is at stake in the global race for AI and the need for continued U.S. leadership.” He elaborated that these House members will be instrumental in advancing a national framework in Congress that builds on the Trump Administration’s vision for AI, aiming to create jobs and bolster competitiveness against China.
Scalise shared his thoughts, stating, “Artificial intelligence has the potential to strengthen our economy and ensure that the United States continues to surpass China as the world leader in innovation.” He expressed pride in the collaborative efforts of his congressional colleagues and the Trump administration, highlighting the importance of establishing a clear AI agenda that also safeguards consumer interests.
This recent endorsement cycle continues a trend that began earlier this year, when Leading the Future introduced more House coordinators, including representatives from various states like Minnesota and Texas. The organization is intent on backing conservative leaders who recognize the importance of maintaining America’s edge in AI innovation.
Leading the Future, backed by over $100 million from influential Silicon Valley figures, aims to advocate for “tech-friendly AI policies” and support pro-AI candidates across the nation. The initiative seeks to promote a positive agenda for AI innovation in Washington and at the state level, while focusing on identifying and nurturing pro-AI candidates.
