Caitlin Clark Set to Return for Indiana Fever

Caitlin Clark is poised to make her comeback for the Indiana Fever this Friday night against the Golden State Valkyries after missing a game due to an illness.

The 24-year-old player fell ill late in her last game, which led to her absence during the Fever’s match against the Portland Fire on Wednesday. Surprisingly, the Fever announced her injury just two hours before the game started. Interestingly, she hadn’t practiced the day before and wasn’t on the injury report.

This oversight prompted the WNBA to issue a warning to the Fever for not properly communicating Clark’s injury status before the game.

The league has a policy that mandates teams report any injuries by 5 p.m. the day before a game, with updates expected if a player’s condition changes overnight. According to reports, this situation led to the warning being issued.

Even without Clark, the Fever managed to secure a 90-73 win over the Fire, with standout performances from Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, who scored 24 and 21 points, respectively.

In her third season with the Fever, Clark has made a strong start, playing in four games and averaging 24.3 points, nine assists, and five rebounds. Last season, she faced a series of injuries and was only able to participate in 13 games, so the team and fans are hopeful her current back issues won’t slow her down this time.

The Fever, currently holding a 3-2 record, is set to face the Valkyries, who are 3-1, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
