One of the so-called journalists ardently supporting Luigi Mangione is revealingly linked to the health care sector. Lena Weisbrot, part of a fan group devoted to United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is actually the daughter of Reina Natello, who manages prescription drug coverage regulations for CVS Health, according to public records and her online resume.
Natello, a pharmacist with over two decades in the field, has held her current role since October 2021. Her professional background also includes positions at several health insurance boards and a start in pharmaceutical manufacturing at Bayer Healthcare.
Weisbrot, who is 32, expressed her frustrations with the health care industry outside the New York State Supreme Court on Monday as Mangione’s trial got underway, controversially suggesting that Thompson’s bereaved children were “better off without him.”
On another note, Natello has an impressive resume as the lead medical director on CVS Health’s Prescription Clinical Analytics team. Records indicate her extensive experience in the pharmaceutical sector.
Living in Portland, Oregon, Weisbrot was slated as a speaker at a noted health conference scheduled for 2026, and her marriage to David Weisbrot was confirmed through public documents, though details about him remain unclear.
Interestingly, Weisbrot earned a Fulbright MTV fellowship in 2015 while her family resided in Florida, where she pursued a degree in fine arts at Florida State University. The fellowship allowed her to explore feminist art in South Africa.
In the past, she has created a rap video expressing her troubling admiration for Mangione while also criticizing Thompson. In a bold stylistic choice, the video mixed grim imagery with provocative lyrics, pushing a rather unsettling message about billionaires and violence while claiming to reject violence herself.
When approached about her family ties, Weisbrot denied that Reina Natello was her mother but evaded further inquiries, stating the two had a strained relationship. Soon after, Natello altered her LinkedIn profile to obscure her last name.
Weisbrot and Natello are publicly registered as mother and daughter, sharing an address in Weisbrot’s hometown until 2012. Natello married David Weisbrot in 1993, shortly before Lena was born.
Attempts to contact Natello and David for comments were unsuccessful. Another member of Weisbrot’s fan group, Avril Ríos, grew up in a wealthy environment and holds an impressive educational background, which adds another layer to the group’s dynamics.
Ríos has been described as a child actor and model, boasting international experiences. However, her response to press inquiries was hostile, accusing the media of personal attacks.
Rojas, another fan, seems more enigmatic. She previously worked on retail sales and baking while currently pursuing a journalism certificate at NYU. Her public remarks included a strong condemnation of Thompson.
Research analyst Stu Smith labeled the group as “incredibly cruel,” raising questions about the nature of their activism and the possible biases influencing their perspectives.
