Alain Prost Injured in Home Invasion

Four-time Formula 1 champion Alain Prost has reportedly been injured following an attack on his home by a group of masked men, according to emerging reports from Switzerland.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday in Nyon, which is about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) north of Geneva. The police have not disclosed the names of those involved, but they confirmed that a robbery took place, targeting a family.

“Several masked individuals entered the home. Once inside, they threatened the residents and caused a minor head injury to a family member. The circumstances are under investigation,” the police stated.

Following the attack, the assailants forced one of the family members to open a safe before fleeing the scene. Swiss and French authorities are actively searching for those responsible.

Alain Prost, who raced for teams like McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams from 1980 to 1993, is celebrated as one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history. He secured the World Drivers’ Championship in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993, placing him alongside Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen for four titles. In the realm of F1, only Juan Manuel Fangio, Lewis Hamilton, and Michael Schumacher have more championships.

Prost’s most notable era was at McLaren during the late 1980s, where he famously battled with teammate Ayrton Senna for the championship.

Since retiring from racing, Prost has worked in various roles, including television commentary, managing his team, Prost Grand Prix, and most recently serving as an advisor for the Alpine F1 team until 2022.
