Kyle Busch’s Iconic Number at the Indianapolis 500

Kyle Busch is a respected figure in NASCAR and broader motorsports. His legacy is significant, and one of his most iconic numbers will soon make an appearance at the upcoming 110th Indianapolis 500 race.

In his NASCAR career, Busch raced with various numbers, including No. 5, No. 18, and No. 8 in the Cup Series. However, most fans associate him with No. 18, which he proudly wore for 15 years, including his championship seasons.

According to Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, Dale Coyne Racing, which fields Romain Grosjean’s No. 18 Honda, has plans to showcase the classic No. 18 car that Busch drove during his time with Joe Gibbs Racing.

This is quite the honor, isn’t it? Numbers in racing often come with trademarks, so this initiative required reaching out to Joe Gibbs Racing, as noted by Stern. Although Busch never participated in the Indy 500 or the IndyCar Series, he certainly made a mark at NASCAR’s Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Interestingly, Busch’s older brother, Kurt, tried to compete in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day back in 2014. Quite a feat, really.

Many may still recall the excitement of seeing No. 18 in Victory Lane. As for Grosjean, he’ll be starting the race from 24th position, which allows for some potential recovery during the events of the day. But, considering the unpredictability of such races, who knows what could happen?
