NASCAR Honors Kyle Busch After His Passing

This weekend, the NASCAR community is coming together to honor Kyle Busch, the driver who made a significant impact in the sport. Tributes are pouring in, especially from the two series where he achieved remarkable success.

Busch passed away on Thursday due to severe pneumonia, which led to sepsis. He had been a full-time driver in NASCAR’s premier Cup Series for over 20 years, while also participating occasionally in both the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series.

He was particularly renowned for his impressive skills in the Truck Series, where he won 69 out of 184 races and even owned a team at one point. Interestingly, Busch’s last victory came just days before his death in a Truck Series event at Dover.

On Friday, Charlotte hosted the Truck Series as part of the Coca-Cola 600 weekend, a race Busch was set to drive in.

NASCAR Responds to Busch’s Unexpected Death

Corey Day was in the No. 7 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, where Busch had his final win, and was poised to start from pole position after the qualifying rounds were suspended due to rain.

Before the race on Friday evening, a moment of silence was observed by teams and fans in memory of Busch. Unfortunately, the race itself did not commence and was postponed, first to Saturday morning, and then again to Saturday night.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, another stage where Busch excelled, also took a moment to pay respects before their race in Charlotte on Saturday. However, that race was ultimately canceled due to ongoing rain.

There is an air of uncertainty as the NASCAR Cup Series’ longest race of the year, the Coca-Cola 600, is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday.
