Cincinnati Reds Pitcher Andrew Abbott Gets Engaged

Cincinnati Reds All-Star pitcher Andrew Abbott recently made a big personal announcement: he proposed to his girlfriend, Lindsay Stone. Stone, like Abbott, has been a TV anchor at WLWT for the past three years, gaining recognition among Cincinnati fans.

In an Instagram post showcasing the moment, Abbott simply wrote, “Forever.” The photo captures the couple celebrating their engagement, with the Cincinnati skyline as a backdrop.

Stone hails from a town about 30 miles north of Cincinnati. She began her career writing about Notre Dame football as a sports reporter at WDNU in South Bend, Indiana, before moving to WTTV in Indianapolis. Just recently, she shared on social media that she will be leaving WLWT when her contract finishes on May 24, although she hasn’t specified her next steps.

Abbott, who is 26, has been with the Reds throughout his four-year career. Last season was particularly noteworthy for him; he pitched over 166 innings, achieving a record of 10 wins and 7 losses with an ERA of 2.87, earning him his first All-Star selection.

Despite the impressive performances last year, he has faced some challenges this season. Abbott has started 11 games, with a current record of 4 wins and 2 losses, along with a 3.97 ERA. His command has wavered, allowing 26 walks while striking out 38. However, he seems to be finding his rhythm again with a recent streak of 4-0, a 1.29 ERA, and 19 strikeouts over his last five starts.
