USA 250: Nathan Hale
Nathan Hale, a spy from the American Revolutionary War, is well-known for what are believed to be his last words as he sacrificed his life for his country.
As part of the celebrations for America’s 250th Anniversary, Super Pretzel is debuting a star-shaped version of its famous stadium snack, joining various other brands launching limited-edition products this summer.
According to Super Pretzel’s announcement, these pretzels are shaped like “America’s most iconic symbols” and are described as “patriotic from the freezer to the fork.”
Linwood Mallard, the chief marketing officer at J&J Snack Foods, remarked, “This anniversary is a memorable event for many, and we aimed to create something fun and easy to share among families.”
The company emphasizes that each star pretzel is crafted in the Philadelphia area, a site rich in history. This connection enhances the pretzel’s significance, making it more than just a seasonal item; it embodies the spirit of “pretzel country.”
Super Pretzels will be available at sports venues, amusement parks, movie theaters, and grocery stores nationwide. They cook quickly, taking just minutes to go from freezer to oven, and the recommendation is to use an air fryer for an extra crispy finish.
The star-shaped pretzels are slated for a Memorial Day release and will be on sale through September.
Other brands are also getting involved in the 250th anniversary celebrations with special patriotic-themed food and beverages. Notably, Maker’s Mark plans to introduce limited-edition bourbon bottles featuring distinctive red and white wax dips, to launch on June 1. A portion of the sales will support the Farmer Veteran Coalition, aiding veterans in agriculture.
Pillsbury is contributing with its Funfetti Stars & Stripes line, which includes celebratory cake mixes and vibrant frostings in patriotic hues.
Additionally, Mountain Dew has rebranded as “American Dew,” adorned bottles and cans with the American flag, while Cheerios is releasing a special birthday cake-flavored cereal in a commemorative red, white, and blue box. Oreo is also joining in the fun, announcing new Firecracker Pop cookies made in partnership with Popsicle, featuring a blend of blue raspberry, lemon, and cherry creams.
