Dog Accidentally Fires Shotgun at Nebraska Gas Station

Authorities in Nebraska have reported that a dog accidentally discharged a shotgun while inside a parked truck at a gas station, leading to an explosion that injured a woman in another vehicle nearby. This unusual incident took place Saturday just after noon at the Shortstop gas station and convenience store located at 2002 Avenue I.

According to the Scottsbluff Police Department, the dog was left in the vehicle when the owner went inside the store. Another passenger exited the truck but remained close by. While moving around in the back seat, the dog made contact with a shotgun that was stored inside. It seems that the firearm was loaded and went off after the dog accidentally pulled the trigger.

Witnesses reported that the blast came through the passenger side door and struck a woman who was stopped at a traffic light a few meters away. The bullet hit her in the upper part of her right arm while she was resting outside her window. Fortunately, her injuries were not life-threatening. Her family took her to the Regional West Medical Center for treatment.

Initially, the police thought it might have been a BB gun involved in the incident, but they later confirmed that it was indeed a shotgun. Investigators have noted damage to the passenger door of the vehicle consistent with a shotgun blast.

No other injuries were reported as a result of this strange accident. The Scottsbluff Police continue to investigate the situation for further details.
