Bodybuilder Gabriel Ganley Dies at 22

Gabriel Ganley, a bodybuilder, tragically passed away at just 22, as reported by G1 Globo. The cause was determined to be hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), according to his death certificate.

HCM is when the heart muscle thickens, making it harder for the heart to pump blood. This condition often goes unnoticed, as many individuals exhibit no symptoms at all. However, it can lead to serious complications, including life-threatening arrhythmias and even sudden death.

Ganley was discovered unresponsive in his apartment in Sao Paulo over the weekend, with some anabolic steroids reportedly found nearby. A friend became concerned after not hearing from him for two days and sought help from the apartment staff to gain access to his unit.

The precise timing of his death remains unclear, and authorities are treating the case as a “suspicious death – sudden death.” Initial reports from the Sao Paulo Public Safety Secretariat (SSP) indicated that there were no obvious signs of foul play at the scene.

Forensic investigators discovered potential anabolic steroids and various medications in the apartment, but an official cause of death has not yet been confirmed. The SSP is awaiting forensic findings before providing further details on his death.

Ganley, affectionately known as “Businho,” was gearing up for a major bodybuilding competition, the Muscle Contest Brasil, scheduled for July. Active on social media, he frequently shared workout photos, including a post from May 22nd showcasing his quadriceps.

In the wake of his sudden passing, a sponsor released a heartfelt message, reflecting on the loss of a talented athlete and influential figure. “What we have lost is far more than just a promising athlete; we’ve lost someone who inspired many young people daily,” the protein supplement brand Integral Medica stated. They also emphasized that his vibrant spirit and legacy would remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
