Maddox Jolie-Seeking Name Change
Maddox, the son of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has taken steps to legally remove his father’s last name. The 24-year-old submitted his request recently, citing personal reasons, as reported by an outlet.
If granted, he would be known as Maddox Chivan Jolie, dropping the last name Jolie-Pitt. This comes after reports of Pitt and Jolie securing a significant win in a legal battle regarding their Chateau Miraval estate, which may not be unrelated to Maddox’s decision.
Interestingly, he had already started distancing himself from his father’s surname, appearing as Maddox Jolie in the credits of Jolie’s recent film earlier this year. At the time, he was an assistant director, as noted by a source.
His recent move follows that of his brother, Shiloh, who, upon turning 18, sought changes involving Pitt’s name and was granted the request three months later. According to sources, this family dynamic has been complicated. While Pitt reportedly remains close to his two youngest children, the relationship with his other kids, including Maddox and Shiloh, appears to be strained.
In previous years, there’s been a notable absence of Pitt’s last name at various public events involving the children, which has drawn attention. The siblings’ choices seem to indicate a deeper rift in the family dynamic.
Pitt and Jolie’s relationship ended in 2016, and they officially became single in 2019. Reflecting on their final divorce settlement in December 2024, Pitt remarked that it felt like a natural progression. Meanwhile, he has been in a relationship with jewelry designer Ines de Ramon since 2022.
