Nationals terminate community relations director for reportedly confessing to religious discrimination.

Boebert requests investigation of Nationals for supposed religious discrimination

Washington Nationals Face Controversy Over Social Media Policy

The Washington Nationals are facing criticism following the release of a secretly recorded video by James O’Keefe, the founder of Project Veritas. In the video, Sean Hudson, the team’s community relations director, is seen discussing the decision to exclude pitcher Trevor Williams from certain social media promotions due to his previous religious statements.

This revelation has sparked responses from politicians, including Rep. Lauren Boebert, who is calling for an investigation by the Department of Justice.

As reported by The Athletic, the Nationals have terminated Hudson’s employment just three days after the conservative group aired the hidden camera footage. The video included internal discussions that addressed various topics, including the bans on social media for a Catholic pitcher and the team’s relations with defense contractors.

Hudson reportedly targeted Williams due to his stance against the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group that many view as anti-Catholic. This organization was honored by the Los Angeles Dodgers and has drawn criticism for their provocative performances. Hudson mentioned in the video, “The Dodgers had a group of drag queens… Sometimes they dressed up as nuns.” She further explained that Williams expressed on social media, “This is my religion,” indicating that the team did not want to exploit him on such platforms.

While the Nationals have not issued a formal statement regarding Hudson’s dismissal, a spokesperson did comment to FOX News Digital, stating, “The assertion is not only factually incorrect but also does not reflect the views, opinions, or actions of the Washington Nationals. We are dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for our players, fans, and staff, and categorically deny any contrary allegations.”

As for Hudson, attempts to reach her through calls, texts, or emails regarding this matter have gone unanswered.
