Disney fans target and expose widow for her videos about Magic Kingdom

Recently, a community of amusement park fans has turned their ire towards Kathleen Kosola, a 61-year-old widow. This backlash stems from accusations that she has been profiting off Disney performers by sharing footage on her popular social media account, which boasts nearly 300,000 followers. Some individuals have even gone so far as to expose her personal information, stalk her, and send her threatening handwritten letters.

Kathleen has found herself at the center of this storm after posting videos and photos from Disney World. Police and Disney officials have been alerted by disgruntled fans who want her banned from the park. One note sent to her home read, “FK YOU…get a job and get a life.”

“It ruined my life!” she expressed bitterly, describing the barrage of daily hostility she faces. Kathleen initiated her social media account, titled magic park memories, as a creative outlet following her unemployment four years ago.

However, in the past six months, she’s been labeled a villain by a segment of Disney enthusiasts online. Critics accuse her of exploiting Disney performers for personal gain. A YouTube video by a channel called The Louie Bee suggests that Kathleen occupies prime viewing spots in front of the Magic Kingdom piano stage, soliciting tips and even revealing a piano player’s performance schedule.

After she shared a selfie with a performer, a Reddit user on the r/ThemeParkSwindlers page speculated about her safety, claiming staff may be actively monitoring her movements. Despite this scrutiny, when she appears in the park, fans quickly share photos tagging “Kathleen sightings.”

Kosola admits to her deep affection for Disney World, having relocated to Florida from Illinois in the ’80s after her husband passed away from a brain aneurysm. Since then, she’s been visiting Disney at least twice a week. She started her social media presence as a way to cope with her circumstances after losing her job.

“People confront me in the park. They’ve said they want to spit on me or knock my phone away,” she recounted. While she insists her videos are harmless, she acknowledges that the financial support she receives is minimal.

“Sometimes I get a penny, sometimes a dime. It’s just a bit of help for the channel. Honestly, I’m not making much from this,” she added.

Some of her critics have pointed to a $20 donation she received, which was meant to be split between her and a performer, arguing it jeopardizes the performers’ jobs. Though Disney employees cannot accept tips, Kathleen asserts that she does not request tips from them and used the $20 to purchase snacks for the musician instead.

Kathleen’s son, Kevin, 37, has also reached out to Disney and law enforcement about the harassment his mother endures, but the troubling behavior continues. “I tried to do everything right, talking to Disney and the police. But there’s not much they can do,” he reflected.

The ongoing conflict between devoted Disney fans and influencers is nothing new, with both sides accusing the other of turning family trips into something excessive. Just recently, a live streamer was removed from Disneyland after an incident involving another park guest.

Kosola’s strong attachment to Disneyland developed following her husband’s passing. She believes that the memories associated with the park have been a lifeline of sorts for her during difficult times. “We named it Magic Park Memories because it’s a place filled with magic,” she concluded.
