Dr. Mehmet Oz to Lead White House Press Conference
Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is set to lead a press conference at the White House on Tuesday.
This event marks the latest instance of a member of President Donald Trump’s cabinet stepping in for the press secretary, Caroline Leavitt, who is currently on maternity leave. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is also taking over some of the secretarial duties during this time.
The former television personality turned government official will hold the press briefing starting at 1 p.m. ET.
Recently, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance have taken the podium in Leavitt’s absence, making light of the situation and sharing some amusing exchanges.
“I told Caroline that when Usha had her baby in July, I would fill in for her at the White House press conference today on the condition that she be vice president for a few weeks,” Vance joked during one of the briefings.
The Vice President and his wife, Usha Vance, are anticipating their fourth child this July.
Oz will be on stage while Leavitt is away on maternity leave, and viewers are encouraged to tune in for the live briefing on OAN at 1 p.m. ET.
