Packers’ Josh Jacobs Under Investigation
This week, the Packers maintained their routine despite running back Josh Jacobs being embroiled in a legal situation. He’s on the field even while facing serious domestic violence charges that resulted in his recent arrest.
Jacobs was taken into custody by Hobart-Lawrence Police on several charges, including assault and domestic abuse, as well as strangulation and victim intimidation. He spent a night in jail before being released the following day, as the prosecutor’s office stated they weren’t prepared to make formal charges yet.
Reports indicate that Jacobs participated fully in practice on Tuesday. Packard head coach Matt LaFleur mentioned that the team’s atmosphere during OTAs felt like “business as usual.”
His teammates, including quarterback Jordan Love, provided Jacobs with support during a media session. Love acknowledged that the matter was discussed internally among players but emphasized their need to respect the ongoing investigation. “We all know the situation,” he said. “It’s great to have Josh here with us, and we just have to keep moving forward.” Love also mentioned his surprise at the news, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding the situation.
Safety Xavier McKinney noted that Tuesday was not Jacobs’ first day back with the team, reinforcing that the daily routine remained unchanged for them.
Jacobs, 28, didn’t address the media on Tuesday. The district attorney’s office has not yet provided an update regarding potential charges.
Jacobs has strongly denied the allegations against him, and his attorneys expressed assurance that the investigation would ultimately clear his name. They are confident that no additional charges will emerge.
Audio recordings from dispatchers have shed light on the incident, revealing distressing details like reports of “yelling” and a call from neighbors claiming “my neighbor has been assaulted.”
With eight years in the NFL and currently in his third season with the Packers, Jacobs had a notable performance last year, rushing for 929 yards and scoring 15 touchdowns across 15 games.
