Shooting Incident During Guardians Broadcast
A shooting occurred on Tuesday night coinciding with a Cleveland Guardians television broadcast.
Tom Hamilton, the radio voice for the Guardians, made light of a comment by Yankees player Jazz Chisholm, who recently appeared on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon. Chisholm confidently predicted that the Yankees would clinch the 2026 World Series.
“He went ahead and said the Yankees would win it,” Hamilton remarked after the Guardians triumphed over the Yankees with a 9-4 score.
During the discussion, Hamilton added, “He said that on The Jimmy Fallon Show last night.” It seems like quite the awe-inspiring moment when you consider Chisholm’s performance of .239—kind of a surprising stat given the hype.
Chisholm managed just one hit in four at-bats during the opening game of the Tuesday series, along with two strikeouts and one RBI.
On the show, Fallon posed a question about what the Yankees’ ultimate ambition is this season. Chisholm joked, “I mean, win the World Series. This is New York! Come on, kid.”
When asked if he truly believed they could achieve that this season, Chisholm replied emphatically, “Oh, of course. I’ll do it. Of course.”
This season has been rough for Chisholm, with a .696 OPS, six home runs, 20 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases. As he approaches free agency, he’s known for making predictions, even if they sometimes border on unrealistic—like claiming he’d hit 50 home runs and swipe 50 bases this spring training, a feat only accomplished by the great Shohei Ohtani once.
However, right now, he’s not on track to meet those lofty goals, projecting only 16 home runs this season.
