Trump Accuses Democrats of Attempting to Undermine California’s Primary
President Donald Trump has alleged that Democrats are attempting to “steal” California’s primary elections, remarks made amid a heated political climate.
The president’s criticism specifically targeted the gubernatorial and Los Angeles mayoral primaries, according to reports on Thursday. He stated, “Democrats are at it again! They’re trying to steal the California gubernatorial primary and the Los Angeles mayoral race from the two major Republican candidates, where a large number of mail-in ballots were cast with great delay.”
On the same day, Trump mentioned that authorities in Los Angeles had started an investigation into the situation. He claimed, “There was massive fraud by Democrats in California. All votes are in a stalemate. You may not be able to vote for weeks. The US Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles is investigating. Why are the vote counts being delayed?”
As for the counting process, it seems that significant delays may arise from signature verification, mail-in ballot processing, and audits that ensue after polls close. Reports noted that early voting results hinted at a preference for candidates like Spencer Pratt and Steve Hilton in the ongoing races.
In light of the recent outcomes, it appears that Hilton maintained a lead in the gubernatorial race with 27.6% of the counted votes, followed closely by Xavier Becerra with 25.6%. Meanwhile, Pratt garnered 29.91% of the votes for mayor, trailing incumbent Karen Bass who had 34.97%.
Notably, Trump endorsed Hilton earlier this year, referring to her as a “hard-driving winner.” Additionally, comedian Bill Maher has expressed support for Pratt, indicating a growing interest in their candidacies.
Pratt has been openly critical of Bass, drawing attention to instances where he feels she has ignored constituents. Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlowe reflected on the political landscape, questioning the prevalent one-party rule in cities and urging accountability among elected officials.
