Father Arrested for Alleged Murder of 4-Year-Old Son in Washington
A father in Washington state was arrested on Thursday, suspected of killing his 4-year-old son and burying the body beneath his home.
Jacob Bevins, 36, faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, unlawful disposal of human remains, and providing false statements to a public official. This information comes from local media reports.
Authorities initially contacted Jacob on May 12 after his 6-year-old daughter was reported missing. While the girl was found safe with her mother, police soon realized that Aiden, the 4-year-old, was also missing.
Initially, Jacob claimed that his son was staying with relatives in another state, but family members denied having seen the child. During later questioning, Jacob confessed to fatally striking Aiden in the head, but he later changed his account, saying he was chasing the boy to the bathroom when Aiden fell and hit his head.
The body, hidden inside a garbage bag and buried under the house, was discovered by authorities on May 15, nearly a year after Aiden had gone missing.
In an emotional response, a nearby resident expressed concern for her own grandchildren, saying she couldn’t bring them near the location due to the discovery of the child’s remains.
Investigators reported that the injuries found on Aiden were consistent with blunt force trauma, which contradicts the father’s retelling of events.
Former foster parents of the children indicated they had raised concerns about the children’s safety and health to Child Protective Services after they were returned to their biological parents.
