Kuwait reports damage to its International Airport from an Iranian drone attack

Kuwait Condemns Iranian Attack on International Airport

Kuwait has formally condemned an attack by Iran, highlighting that Kuwait International Airport was among the targets. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the Iranian actions as brutal and criticized the ongoing use of ballistic missiles and drones. The most recent assault occurred early this morning, aiming at civilian and vital infrastructure, leading to one death, several injuries, and damage to significant facilities, including diplomatic missions.

A spokesperson for the Kuwait Army General Staff mentioned that buildings at the airport were damaged and people were hurt, necessitating medical care. Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, elaborated that the attack involved numerous hostile drones targeting the passenger terminal, resulting in extensive property damage and injuries.

Despite these hostilities, the Kuwaiti military is maintaining a watchful stance, assuring that they are prepared to address any further developments to ensure national security. This incident follows a series of escalations with the United States’ conflict with Iran that began over three months ago.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) indicated that American forces recently executed a self-defense strike against Iranian positions after intercepting threats. They reported that on June 2, multiple Iranian missiles and drones were neutralized during attempts to target U.S. interests in the region. Importantly, none of the missiles reached their intended targets, either malfunctioning or being intercepted prior to impact.

Furthermore, CENTCOM noted the successful interception of drones aimed at civilian vessels in regional waters. They reassured that no American personnel have been harmed and are committed to defending against unwarranted aggression.
