Teenager Holds Gun to Veteran’s Face
This past week, a Maryland teenager was recorded by surveillance footage aiming a gun at a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and demanding his car keys. However, the situation ended poorly for the teen and his accomplices.
Jayco Borda, a veteran trained in hand-to-hand combat, reported to WTTG-TV that around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, he was driving his pickup truck near Oxon Hill High School when the incident occurred. Four teenagers approached him while walking on the sidewalk.
Borda said all the suspects wore hooded sweatshirts. They aggressively demanded his car keys, phone, and other valuables. The footage showed one teen, clad in red, white, and blue, brandishing a handgun and aiming it at Borda’s head.
Fortunately for Borda, the gunman became momentarily distracted, allowing him to leverage his military training to respond. He successfully disarmed the teen, and his brother, who noticed the commotion, rushed to assist him. During the struggle, the gun fired, but no one was harmed. Instead, the bullet struck Borda’s truck, leaving a noticeable hole.
As the fight unfolded, another suspect attempted to flee, but Borda’s brother managed to catch him. Eventually, the brothers were able to track down all four suspects until officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department arrived to make the arrests. All four suspects have since been jailed.
Police are now seeking any additional information related to this case. Borda, reflecting on the incident, asserted, “Once a Marine, always a Marine.” He expressed gratitude, stating, “I’m grateful. I’m still here and safe with my family.”
