Knicks Prepare for Historic Game with Enhanced Security
The Knicks are ramping up security for their first home game in the NBA Finals in 27 years.
On Saturday, the team outlined several measures for Game 3 at Madison Square Garden. These measures include a “strict no-carry policy” and safety protocols resembling “TSA-style” screenings.
Fans are encouraged to arrive at least two hours before the 8:30 p.m. tipoff to settle in before the first quarter begins.
“A strict no-bag policy will be enforced, and we urge fans to limit personal items to what’s absolutely necessary,” the team advised. “Expect enhanced security measures, including screening at the entrance. Arriving early will make the process smoother.”
For a detailed list of prohibited items, fans can refer to the secret service website.
While bags fitting under the seat are usually permitted, they cannot exceed dimensions of 22 inches x 14 inches x 9 inches, according to the arena’s website.
The game is expected to be significant, with President Donald Trump scheduled to attend. The news of his visit was confirmed after a report by the Post earlier this week.
This marks the first occasion a sitting president will witness an NBA Finals game.
Trump expressed his support for the Knicks, saying, “[They’re] a really great, great team. I’m happy for them,” praising Knicks owner Jim Dolan for his efforts in building the team.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver shared his excitement for Trump’s attendance, noting the president’s loyalty to the Knicks even before taking office. “I think President Trump is a true New Yorker,” Silver remarked this week, expressing his enthusiasm for New Yorkers coming together to support the team.
After securing wins in Games 1 and 2, the Knicks hold a strong 2-0 lead against the Spurs as they aim for their first NBA championship on home turf since 1973.
